A Brief History
Bridges opened in 1993 on the grounds of St. Paul’s School as a two-summer-long enrichment program for 16 elementary school students attending Coldstream Park Elementary, a Title I school in northeast Baltimore. Bridges has evolved since that time to better support student success. It now provides an innovative year-round support system that Baltimore City students enter at the end of third grade and participate in through high school and beyond. Here is a timeline of Bridges’ evolution over the past 24 years, featuring key growth points:

Currently Bridges operates on the campuses of two independent schools, St. Paul’s School and Gilman School, which provide extensive in-kind support and 165+ high school volunteers throughout the year.
