Dear Members of the St. Paul's Community,
Last week I informed Jeff Huang, president of The St. Paul's Schools, and Elizabeth Robinson, chair of the Board of Trustees, that the 2019-20 academic year will be my last at St. Paul's School. This is my seventh year at St. Paul's, and it has been my honor to serve the school as headmaster. I have accepted a position as head of school at The Benjamin School, a coeducational PK–12 school in North Palm Beach, Florida. This new role presents an exciting opportunity and the timing feels right professionally. I am proud of all we have accomplished during my tenure at SP, from expanding opportunities for our students to improving facilities significantly to collaborating with SPSG in laying the groundwork for our recent unification.
Holly, Libby, John '16, and I have thoroughly enjoyed our time as Crusaders here in Brooklandville. We felt the warmth and community spirit from our very first days on campus, and John was welcomed quickly and wholeheartedly into the class of 2016. Whether it was cheering on the boys from the stands, participating in our Lessons and Carols service, watching the annual Halloween parade, or reconnecting with alumni at the Bash and Blue-Gold weekend, these are just a handful of the special memories that Holly and I will always hold dear.
I have been blessed to work with a very skilled and talented faculty and staff whose care and commitment to our student body is unwavering and mission-aligned. I will cherish the many relationships I have forged over these years with colleagues, students, parents, alumni, and board members. These relationships have made my work here so meaningful and rewarding. Over the next nine months, I will make it a priority to say thank you to this community for your support and your loyalty to our school.
Through the remainder of the year, I will focus on furthering the work around unification while preserving the best of St. Paul's School's traditions and ethos. I will continue to guide the construction of the new Upper School building and the fundraising necessary to pay for it. Most importantly, I will make it a priority to support our remarkable student body to ensure that this is one of our best years yet.
