In honor of his retirement after 25 years teaching Middle School science at St. Paul's, family and friends of Howard F. "Howdy" Knipp III have established the Howard F. Knipp III Endowment at The St. Paul's Schools. Reflecting Howdy's lifelong commitment to the environment, the Knipp Fund will support faculty development and student activities in the Middle Schools of St. Paul's School and St. Paul's School for Girls, with an emphasis on the outdoors and the environment.

Job Summary:

St. Paul's School is searching for a Substitute Middle School Spanish Teacher to join us from November 6 – November 20, 2018.Teachers at St. Paul's School are passionate, innovative, and dedicated members of the St. Paul's community who embrace the philosophy, values and traditions of the School while always striving for excellence.Teachers are committed to individual and professional growth, value and respect every member of the community, and are devoted to helping students achieve success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Classroom preparation, instruction, and assessment;

Planning and Preparation:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy
  2. Demonstrate knowledge of students
  3. Select appropriate instructional goals
  4. Demonstrate knowledge and use of resources
  5. Design coherent instruction for all learners
  6. Assess student learning

Instruction:

  1. Communicate clearly and accurately
  2. Use quality questioning and discussion techniques
  3. Engage students in learning
  4. Providing feedback for students
  5. Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness

The Classroom Environment:

  1. Create an environment of respect and rapport
  2. Establish a culture for learning
  3. Manage classroom procedures
  4. Manage student behavior
  5. Organize physical space

Professional Responsibilities:

  1. Maintaining accurate records
  2. Communicate with families
  3. Show professionalism in decision making

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree is required;
  • Certification in art education grades K-12 is not required, but is a consideration.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of two years teaching experience in elementary or secondary schools.
