Peer Tutoring
Posted 10/04/2018 01:00PM

Summary of the program: The Peer Tutoring program is offered to Lower School students who need modest academic support and additional practice with academic content in Math. Upper School peer-tutors, trained by the Lower, Middle and Upper School Learning Specialists, are matched with Lower School students. The tutors provide review and repetition in weekly tutoring sessions. Lower School teachers recommend students to peer tutoring based on academic need. These recommendations are typically made in the fall, and parent permission for this academic support is needed for students to participate. Peer-tutoring takes place Tuesday or Wednesday mornings from 7:30-8:00AM at the Lower School. Peer Tutoring runs through the end of April.

Communication: If your son or daughter is participating in the peer-tutoring program in the Lower School, your main source of information will come directly from the tutor with whom your child is matched. It is important to exchange contact information with your the tutor.

Cancellation: Things happen. If you or your child's tutor needs to cancel tutoring for that week, please do so by 8 PM the night before. When an overnight emergency surfaces, please communicate by 6:30 AM the morning of in the agreed upon method of communication to eliminate unnecessary commuting.

"No Show" Should a tutor not report to tutoring, and not communicate this to a family in the agreed upon terms listed above, we would appreciate the completion of the "no show" form. This document reaches coordinators of the peer tutor program so that we can foster improved communication between the tutor and the family.

Donations for this program are appreciated and used for training purposes. Thanks for your ongoing support.
