Varsity Tennis got a huge win yesterday over Loyola in the quarterfinals, 3-2. The doubles teams played very tough opponents and lost in straight sets. #2 singles Desai Oula and #3 singles Jake Trone took care of business in their matches setting up a pivotal contest for the match at #1 singles. After cruising in the first set 6-1, Jeremiah Williams had to fight through a determined opponent to win the second set in a tie breaker, securing victory for St. Paul's. For the first time in over five years, the team marches on to the semifinals this afternoon against 5-time defending champion Gilman.

On Wednesday we host Gilman for the regular season A conference title at Baltimore Country Club.

Gold lacrosse was back on the field again Monday to take on Gerstell Academy. From the opening whistle, the team was ready to play hard, unselfish lacrosse. Declan Brady got the team on the board with a dodge from up top, and the Gold team was on their way. Strong defense led by Mason Bortner, Carter Brand, Thomas Boone, Jackson Lyons, Grant Willie kept Gerstell far away from the goal, and strong face-off play by Justin Brown and Charlie Schlossberg helped keep possessions in St. Paul's favor all day. After goals by Max Fruman and Cadigan Kimball, St. Paul's took a 8-1 lead into the half.

As we had done the last time we played Gerstell, we used this opportunity to teach the boys to be humble, play hard, but try to do the right thing, and they did an outstanding job not showing up the other teams players and coaches. Goals by Braeden Ballenger, Kyle Wilson, Ryan Carroll kept the flow going in the second half, and allowed our team to work on our offensive sets, while giving some players opportunity to get into the scoring for our team. After the final whistle blew, and the dust from the Lower Grass field settled down, the Gold team secured a 15-1 victory over Gerstell. Great job from every member of this team!
