News & Announcements

A hallmark of the way St. Paul's prepares its graduates for life in an ever-changing world is the personalized, individual attention that we provide every student throughout their time at the School.
On September 28, St. Paul's celebrated Martin D. "Mitch" Tullai and the 50-plus years he served St. Paul's as a teacher, coach and all-around role model for hundreds of students. The School was delighted to announce the creation of the Martin D. Tullai Scholar-Athlete Scholarship, started in honor of Mr. Tullai by a group of alumni grateful for the impact he has had on their lives.

Nature Pavilion Dedicated in Honor of Janice and Skip Darrell '60
Posted 05/23/2017 09:04AM

Parents and members of the Classes of 2015 and 2016, faculty and staff, and friends of the School gathered Monday to dedicate St. Paul's new Nature Pavilion in honor of Janice and Skip Darrell '60.

Supported by the Class of 2016 Senior Parent Gift, the Pavilion is a tangible demonstration of the School's commitment to provide active learning opportunities that enable students to apply classroom concepts in real world situations. The Pavilion is a 3,600-square foot outdoor learning space where our community will interact with nature, learn outdoor skills, explore problem solving, enhance teamwork, develop leadership, and understand natural elements.

The facility was built adjacent to the Ropes Course, which was renovated last year with support from the parents of the Class of 2015.

Headmaster Dave Faus thanked members of the Classes of 2015 and 2016 for their contributions which made the project possible, and recognized the committee of parents who led the Class of 2016 in a record-setting Senior Class Gift effort. Committee Chair Charlie Albert addressed and thanked those in attendance.

Faus also recognized the Parents' Association for contributing the funds for a climbing wall, which will be part of the facility.

The Pavilion was erected on the footprint of the house where Janice and Skip Darrell resided for three decades. David Darrell '80, one of Janice and Skip's two sons, shared his memories of growing up in the house where the pavilion now sits.

Upper School Chaplain Nathan Sell blessed the pavilion at the close of the dedication.

Students began using the Nature Pavilion earlier this year. The facility will be used this summer for camp and special events. Faus noted that the School is still exploring all the ways to use the Pavilion.
