Varsity Golf Squeaks Past Gilman 11.5- 9.5

On Wednesday afternoon, varsity golf hosted Gilman in an MIAA A conference semi-final match at Baltimore Country Club. Conditions were warm, humid with a welcome breeze, with firm greens and some tricky pin positions. It wasn't a pretty win, but we move on to the Final match this Saturday at Caves Valley GC. The first tee time will be at 1:18 on Saturday afternoon.

JV Lacrosse ended their season with a win over BL yesterday 8-7.

The Crusader Lacrosse team played hard against Beth Tfiloh's multi-grade team. Beth Tfiloh scored first, yet the little Crussies kept working. North Carroll, our goalie had his best game to date. Godwin Burger, James Mackrell and Mason Bortner were fierce in defense. Grant Wille, played LSM with style. Declan Brady scored twice, Matthew Marino and Kyle Wilson scored once. The team worked well together getting ground balls and executing good skills. Final Score was St. Paul's 4, Beth Tfiloh 3.

JV Baseball fell 9-4 to Mount St. Joseph on Monday to conclude their season. St. Paul's fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first; they narrowed the lead to 2-1 on Alex Sulin's RBI double in the bottom of the inning, but they were never able to get closer. Mark Holden made a strong debut on the mound in relief for the Crusaders, and Andrew Meck led them offensively with two hits.

Yesterday, SP JV Tennis players participated in the 2017 MIAA Individual JV Tennis Tournament at McDonogh. Luke Ritchie played outstanding tennis at #2 Singles', but finished with a 5-7, 5-7 score against a top-ranked Loyola player. Knox Schlossberg and Jordy Kaplan played very well at #1 Doubles', but fell to a pair of top-ranked Calvert Hall opponents at 2-6, 1-6. Soughtout Olasupo-Ojo and Declan Pollard earned an exciting victory at #2 Doubles' with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 final score. Soughtout and Declan have advanced to Round 2 play this afternoon. Jalon Thomas had a 1st Round bye yesterday and will be playing at #1 Singles' today.

Varsity Golf Defeats Loyola 16 – 5

Varsity golf avenged a season opening loss to Loyola on Friday afternoon at Baltimore CC. With this win we secured the #1 seed for the playoffs, and ended the regular season with an A conference record of 11-1-0. One of the highlights was Tyler Caballero had 5 birdies in his 11 hole match and secured all 3 points, although this really was a strong performance throughout the line-up.

On Wednesday May 17th we will host Calvert Hall in a semi-final playoff match at Baltimore CC.

Varsity lacrosse lost to Calvert Hall on Friday by the score of 8-4.
