Professional chamber choir The Bridge to premiere new compositions at St. Paul's on March 25
Posted 03/03/2017 11:31AM

St. Paul's is proud to welcome The Bridge Ensemble, a Baltimore-based professional chamber choir, to present its new program, "Love, Among Stars," in the School Chapel on Saturday, March 25, at 3 p.m.

"Love, Among Stars" celebrates five composers – Anna Thorvaldsdottir, Frances Pollock, Ledah Finck, Edie Hill, and Palestrina – and includes world premiere performances of the works by Pollock and Finck.

The Bridge is dedicated to exploring the links, both textual and musical, between pre-17th century choral music and new music of the late 20th and 21st centuries. The ensemble is 16 voices "bridging" this gap of several centuries, and aims to create innovative and engaging programs that will push the boundaries of what a performance can be in the 21st century. The ensemble engages closely with emerging and local composers, performs in both traditional and new spaces, and strives to present the world's oldest musical traditions in innovative ways that resonate with its local conscience.

The performance at St. Paul's is free of charge, though a suggested donation of $20 ($10 students and industry) is requested to help support the artists and future projects. Visit The Bridge's Facebook event page for more information.
