Skills for visual expression are best cultivated when students are encouraged to approach their work with unbridled curiosity, creativity, and a flexible mind. St. Paul’s students discover they are artists in a wide variety of ways – in introductory workshops, painting and drawing classes, and the Graphic Design lab.
In Lower and Middle School, visual arts are part of the academic curriculum. In Upper School, St. Paul’s has a joint arts program with SPSG that enables boys and girls to work collaboratively in an artistic and creative environment. Visiting visual provide students a glimpse into the life of a working artists, while also exposing them to new approaches and techniques.

The painting "Facade" by Walker Halstad '14 was selected as an Honorable Mention from almost 400 submissions to the fourth annual Southern Teachers Student Art Contest, and reproduced in the Southern Teachers Agency 2013-14 Art Calendar, sent to more than a thousand independent schools around the country.
