Lacrosse - MS Blue vs. Loyola Blakefield

Event Type: Regular

Date: April 9, 2019

Event Recap:

The boys rolled down Chestnut Avenue arriving at Loyola Blakefield to take on a strong Loyola team. At the opening face-off, you could see that the boys had their hands full, and needed to play the perfect game to beat Loyola. The game started quickly as Loyola scored on a drive down the alley, then they found cutting attackman to make the score 3-0 quickly in the 1st quarter. After a turnover on a clear, Loyola found an open player behind our defense and scored to end the quarter as we fell behind 4-0. The 2nd quarter was similar, though we were winning the face-offs, we turned the ball over consistently which put too much pressure on our defense. After another tough quarter, we found ourselves down 8-0 at the half.

As the third quarter started, our energy rose as we finally got on the board after a dodge by Braden Ballenger broke the ice for St. Paul's. After a second goal, Loyola called time-out to settle their team down. Even with the momentum change, our boys were unable to find the net again for the 3rd quarter. As we started the 4th quarter, St. Paul's and Loyola exchanged goals, the last a swat in from the crease by Ryan Carroll to make the score 10-4. After that last score, neither team could find the net as the game ended in a 10-4 final. This was not the boys best effort, but the coaches are always proud of this group as they never quit, and always fight to the final whistle.
