Ice Hockey - Varsity vs. John Jay High School

Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Away

Date: December 20, 2018

Result:Loss
Score:2-3

Event Recap:

The second leg of the trip north was against John Jay High School, the defending NYSPHSAA Section 1 Division 2 Champions and State Semifinalists. In arguably their hardest fought game of the season, the Crusaders put everything on the line, just falling short. Junior, George Haigley started the scoring early with a snipe off the wing in the first period, but the team still found themselves down 2-1 heading into the third in spite of excellent goal tending from senior Timmy Cole. With a power play to start the third period, junior Nick Schreibeis potted another big goal from his spot in front of the net, giving the Crusies momentum. Unfortunately it was John Jay that scored next on a tough bounce that led to an odd man rush. In addition to the goal scoring, the highlights of the game were huge efforts from freshman Aidan Burd, stepping up on defense, and sophomores Trever Schreibeis and MacLean Schweizer, who both logged significant minutes after another teammate went down early in the first to injury.
