Basketball - MS Gold vs. Loyola Blakefield

Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Away

Date: January 27, 2020

Result:Loss
Score:29-32

Event Recap:

Gold Basketball traveled to Loyola Blakefield on Monday to face off against the Dons. It was a close game and both teams fought hard, but in the end St. Paul’s lost 29-32. After going down early in the first quarter and trailing by a large margin going into half-time, Gold shifted to a zonal defense and began to shut down the Dons. By the end of the third quarter St. Paul’s trailed by only 7 points. Late in the fourth, a shot from eighth grader Jason Nelson brought it to a three point game. In the end, time won out and the clock ran down. In this relatively low scoring game the points were spread out amongst a lot of players. Kellen Bell and Reese Rehak were strong on defense and guarded the paint well. Ben Henigan and CJ Henry fought hard for the Crusies and their efforts help boost the team. The younger guys put in a good showing as sixth grader Connor Lee drained a crucial three in the third quarter. Kaden Edwards and Nik Grimes were tenacious as always. Sometimes is just doesn’t fall your way. Be sure to come out to Pollock gymnasium on Wednesday, the 29th as Gold basketball takes on rival Boys Latin in what promises to be a showdown for the ages. Tipoff at 3:30.
