Event Recap:

Gold basketball suffered a tough loss against Chapelgate at home on Friday the 10th. When the final buzzer sounded, the scoreboard read 51-54. Despite a difficult loss, the boys put in their best game of the season. After quickly going down 0-12, the boys in white came together and battled tooth and nail to narrow the gap. Throughout the course of the game St. Paul’s haunted Chapelgate and continued to close the gap. From 0-12 to 10-24 to 38-45 and finally, 51-54, Gold Basketball doggedly pursued the win. Sixth grader Kaden Edwards had a breakout game and tallied 14 points for the Crusies. Fellow sixth grader Nik Grimes added 10 to the board, many of his baskets added crucial points late in the game. Reese Rehak, Brandon Jones, and Will Ferrens dominated the paint and won rebound upon rebound all game. Eighth Grader Jason Nelson made his mark on the game and scored a total of 7 points. Seventh grader Maddox Priddy added 4 to the board. CJ Wasson got in on the action and sank a three pointer just before the fourth quarter, further closing the gap and giving St. Paul’s a boost just before the final quarter. In the end, it was the best game of the season for Gold Basketball. The boys rallied against a tough opponent and came together in a way not yet seen this year. A packed house helped give Gold momentum with their thundering cheers. In the end, St. Paul’s came up just short, but that didn’t change the fact that they had given their all. Gold will look to carry their new found momentum into their game against Gilman this Wednesday, 15th at home. Be sure to come out and lend your support
