Basketball - MS Blue
vs. Loyola Blakefield
|Date:||January 31, 2019|
The Blue Basketball Crusaders took on the Dons from Loyola in a Thursday afternoon Pollock Gym matchup. The Crusaders came out strong and determined to set the tone by flying around on defense and getting to the rim on offense. Early buckets from Cameron Nelson and Tyler Tucker allowed Crusaders to jump out to a first quarter lead. The Dons, however, soon settled down and used their length on defense to disrupt the Crusaders’ patient attack. Despite building a second quarter lead, St. Paul’s refused to back down and continued playing hard. Paul Koukoulas, an experienced football player accustomed to being physical, had his best rebounding effort of the season against several tall post players for the Dons. Nate Livingston continued to battle on both sides of the floor and proved to be especially effective in the middle of the Crusaders’ zone offense. Nonetheless, turnovers from the Crusaders and sharpshooting from distance for the Dons made the difference. Loyola emerged with a 44-32 victory. Cameron Nelson played his best offensive game of the season scoring 16 points off repeated strong drives to the rim.
St. Paul’s next takes on Concordia Prep on Monday, February 4th.
