Basketball - MS Blue
|Date:||January 23, 2019|
The Blue Basketball team took on the Eagles from McDonogh in its first game in over a week. Looking to string together a second consecutive win, the Crusaders came out attacking the basket on offense. Paul Koukoulas and Max Rottinghaus provided toughness and rebounding from the outset of the game, and Declan Brady hit a smooth three pointer to allow St. Paul’s to jump out to a first quarter lead. Despite tenacious energy on defense from Dessian Oula, Matthew Marino, and Braeden Hastings, the Eagles used proficient shooting from distance to take the lead heading into halftime. Hoping to help the Crusaders get back in the game, Tyler Tucker, Nate Livingston, Thomas Magnusson, and Paul Koukoulas used physical play on offense and defense to help lead the Crusaders. In the 4th quarter, clutch baskets from James Mackrell and Cameron Nelson helped the Crusaders cut the lead to three points with just over a minute left. After a defensive stop, St. Paul’s had the ball with a chance to tie, but they were unable to get a clean shot off. McDonogh escaped with a win by the score of 43-40. Please congratulate the players on the Blue Basketball team for being tough; staying together; and having fun! They’ve come a long way since the start of the year!
