Basketball - MS Blue
vs. Boys' Latin
|Date:||December 7, 2018|
The Blue Basketball squad took on the Lakers from Boys’ Latin in a Friday afternoon showdown in Pollock Gym. The Crusaders began the game a bit sluggish allowing the visiting Lakers to take an early first quarter lead. Max Rottinghaus’ hustle and tenacious play on defense allowed the hosts to remain within in striking distance at halftime. The Crusaders clamped down on defense in the second half thanks to the tremendously hard play of Declan Brady, James Mackrell, and Matthew Marino. Quinn Matthews and Cameron Nelson settled the Crusaders down against the Boys’ Latin’s packed in 1-2-2 zone. Thomas Magnusson, Paul Koukoulas, and Braeden Hastings kept their opponents off the glass, and Dessian Oula’s energy helped spark a Crusaders comeback.
Down the stretch, Aiden Gould’s composure proved instrumental in allowing St. Paul’s to cut their opponents’ lead to 1 with just under a minute to play. Despite a furious rally in the final seconds, the Crusaders were unable to push ahead and lost by a score of 35-34. Nate Livingston—who at times played all 5 positions on the court--once again led the Crusaders with controlled, unselfish play on offense and defense.
St. Paul’s next takes on Calvert School on Tuesday in Pollock Gym.
