Event Recap:

Fresh off a league win on Wednesday, the Crusies suited up on a dark and stormy Saturday afternoon to take on A-conference opponent McDonogh in our own Kinsolving Gym. Anticipating a tough matchup, the boys showed tenacity on both ends of the floor from the opening tip. This time it was our sophomores who got us going offensively with buckets from Jack Keenan and Mark Matthews; and Kylen Austin capped off the end of the first quarter by hitting a cold-blooded transition 3 at the buzzer to make the game even tighter as we entered the 2nd quarter. Both teams saw limited offensive action in the second from stronger defensive efforts, but with some clutch shots from Freshmen duo Cole Bloom and John Padousis as well as a big-time 3 pointer from sophomore Jack Mitchell the Crusies kept themselves right in this game. The 3rd quarter also showed limited offensive productivity from both teams, but once again freshman Cole Bloom got some points on the board and Mark Matthews hit a crucial 3 down the stretch. After 3 quarters of high intensity basketball the boys were gassed, but that didn't stop them from coming out in the 4th with even more hustle and the feeling that they could steal this win from the Eagles. It was neck-and-neck for most of the 4th quarter, but despite lock down defensive efforts, McDonogh had a few big shots that fell right before the shot clock went off to give them a larger lead. The Crusies weren't able to bring it back, but walked out of the gym with their heads high knowing they held their own (and almost won) against a strong competitor. With Exams next week and Winter Break on the way, the JV squad will have a few days to rest before gearing up for a Tournament over the Holidays.
