Basketball - Varsity
vs. Concordia Prep
|Date:||December 20, 2019|
The boys varsity basketball traveled to Boys’ Latin last night to participate in the Lakers annual tournament. St. Paul’s would use the hot shooting of Anthony Smaldore, who knocked down three triples early in the contest, to build a 16-8 first quarter advantage. They would carry that advantage into halftime but Concordia would eventually tie the game in the fourth quarter. St. Paul’s got clutch performances from newcomers Luke Trotta and Tyler Pelkey. Trotta played his first game of the year coming off of a broken thumb to score all seven of his points in the fourth quarter. Pelkey, a freshman who was recently brought up from JV, was playing in just his second varsity game. He hit a tough floating shot in the lane and a huge three in the final minutes of the game and finished with a team high 13 points!
The Crusaders will take on rival BL on Saturday at 3.
