Basketball - Varsity vs. Dulaney High School

Event Type: Regular
Advantage:Away

Date: December 5, 2019

Result:Loss
Score:45-73

Event Recap:

The varsity basketball team traveled to Dulaney yesterday where they took on their second top 10 opponent of the week. St. Paul’s would trail by 10 at the end of the first quarter but battled back thanks to the offense of Anthony Smaldore.  The team did a great job against constant pressure from Dulaney during the quarter.  The junior point guard aggressively orchestrated the press break and knocked down multi three point shots in the frame to pull the Crusaders back within two.  Smaldore would finish with a season high 18 points. St. Paul’s defensive did a great job limiting Dulaney’s nationally ranked point guard, Ryan Conway.  However in that effort Seth Higgins picked up his third foul midway through the second quarter trying to contest a deep shot from Conway.  Without Higgins St. Paul’s was forced to change defenses which opened up Dulaney’s offense and ability to grab offensive rebounds.  The boys played hard throughout the game and continued to compete despite missing multiple members of the team due to injury.
