St. Paul’s hosted McDonogh on Saturday afternoon, and got out to a 13-7 first quarter lead. The visiting Eagles would respond with 18 points in the second quarter, eight of them coming from Lukas Michaelson who scored his only points in the second frame. McDonogh extended a 25-20 halftime lead quickly thanks to three point baskets from David Brown who would lead his team with 21 points. The host Crusaders would battle back in the forth quarter, forcing the visitors to turn the ball over. Despite the great effort throughout the second half of the game, St. Paul’s would fall 60-54, making the fourth quarter very entertaining with pressure defense that produced 28 points in the last quarter. McDonogh’s Jared Billups was able to stem off the comeback by knocking down six of seven foul shots in the last quarter. Ziggy reid would lead all scorers with 25 points. Troy Barthelme would add 17 and Sophomore Anthony Smaldore chipped in 12 as the Crusaders move to 4-4 on the season.
