Soccer - MS Blue
vs. Loyola Blakefield
|Date:||October 18, 2018|
Stoic. No word better describes the Blue Soccer team’s performance during yesterday’s game against Loyola Blakefield. The game ended in a 0-0 tie, with both sides completely spent after an hour of nail-biting soccer. It cannot be denied the Loyola possessed the ball for the majority of the game. But this mattered not, as St. Paul’s put up a defensive wall as immutable as stone.
Aiden Gould guarded the net with aplomb, anchor the St. Paul’s defense. Michael Smyth and Declan Brady provided the foundation and led the defense from the back. Grant Wille, stationed himself just ahead of them and controlled the middle of the field, winning challenge after challenge. Godwin Burger and Thibaut Roger-Dalbert secured the outside of the backline and pressured the Loyola Wingers mercilessly. Matthew Sola and Iain Kennedy ran the wings tirelessly, while Ryan Nelson and Tyler Tucker laid claim to the center of the field. The boys worked as a cohesive unit to shut down Loyola. It was a sight to behold and a game that will not soon be forgotten by the players who took the field yesterday.
St. Paul’s will face Concordia Prep at home this coming Monday the 22nd at 3:30.
