The St. Paul's School
Parents' Association Board Meeting
Monday, May 4, 2015
Committee reports are attached. The following was noted:
Fundraising – Missy Moreland and Joyce Schab will be attending the 5/5 lacrosse game and selling luggage wraps and banners; an idea to consider next year for spring games is to sell water as a fundraiser. The 50/50 raffle, the largest fundraiser for the PA, will begin soon both online and via paper. We need a good response for this.Paper raffle tickets will be sent home with all children in all schools.E-mails will be sent out to announce the raffle.Tickets are $20 for one or $100 for six.
There will be a Nalley Fresh restaurant night on May 18 and a Chipotle night on May 26.
We will not be doing the Lincoln car driving fundraiser this year; the corporate office stopped doing them.
The question was raised as to what each school did with their Make-A-Wish funds.
There will be a Mothers' Day Plant Sale at the Athletic Center on May 6 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Volunteers - We are still recruiting for volunteers in all areas.Julie Acker will be the volunteer liaison for next year.
Movie Night/US – Movie Night went well with approximately 50 attendees. This was an event spearheaded by SPSG.
Vice President - The PA Board welcomed Lisa Ali as the new Vice President for next year.
New PA Structure for 2015/2016 – There will be changes in the structure of the Parents' Association for next school year:
The Executive PA will meet once per month. There will be an open PA meeting once per quarter. Dates, days and times will be communicated at a later date. Once SPSG has established their Executive Board for next year, we will reach out and ask to schedule joint board meetings once per year; they are still looking for a President and Vice President. Committee Reports and Updates will continue to be sent every month. Committees and Parent Chairs may ask to meet with the Executive Board as needed.
The PA Board is open to suggestions for speakers at the open meetings.vIt was suggested to have the heads of the schools at the first meeting to have introductions, who to go to and who they are so that parents can put a face to a name.
Annual Fund Gift – Since this is our last meeting for the school year, there will be an e-mail vote on any budget surplus there may be an what to do with it.
Mother/Son Chapel Service – There was some discussion regarding the annual Mothers' Chapel Service for Seniors and their mothers. This is a tradition for seniors, but will not be occurring this year. Once the new Chaplain for the Upper School begins his tenure in July, this event will be brought to his attention as it will be sorely missed this year.
Volunteers are needed for the prom for the late night portion of the event.
Volunteers are also needed for the Senior Video on June 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for set up and clean up; appetizers are served prior to the video being shown.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
The next meeting is on September 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in Fisher Hall.
