Last Call to Purchase Swamp Soiree Tickets!
The deadline is Today, Friday, February 26
Join us Saturday, March 5, 6:30-10:30 p.m. in the Performance Gym for a fun-filled event featuring a silent and live auction, an open-bar, great food, live music and dancing. Bid on great auction items that your freshman will love, like an afternoon at Camden Yards including 4 tickets, eight rows back! We hope you will join the over 250 parents, alumnae and friends who have already registered to attend.   • Monday, February 29: Applications Due for Heifer International
    This trip is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the world. Heifer International’s mission is “to work with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the earth.” During this service learning trip, students will live and work on an organic farm, learn about food systems and sustainability, help care for a variety of animals, tend to a garden, experience other cultures, and have fun!

      • When: June 12-16, 2016
      • Where: Heifer Farm in Rutland, Mass. 
      • Cost: $480

    • Space is limited! There is room for 13 students this year. The application deadline is Monday, February 29.

  • Friday, March 11: Freshmen Friday
    So far, only SP parents have hosted this event; please consider being the first SPSG parent to host a Freshmen Friday! Some ideas to consider: bowling, community service night & dinner, ice skating, Sky Zone Trampoline Park, etc. Email Margaret Schlossberg if you are interested in hosting.
     
  • Uniform Reminder
    As we get through the colder months, we want to remind students that leggings or tights, not sweatpants, should be worn under jumpers. All clothing worn inside the building should be uniform-approved SPSG apparel.

SCHOOL NEWS

  • NEW! Produce Delivery for Parents
    Starting next week, we will be starting a produce delivery service for all our parents at SPSG. How it works:
    • Each week, we will send a produce menu from Class Produce Group with three healthy and affordable options. Click here to see this week's menu. You may participate as often as you would like. You will have the option of paying by credit card or charging your SPSG account. Visit spsfg.org/produce to place your order.
    • Menus will be sent each Tuesday, orders will be due to Class Produce the following Monday, and deliveries will be made the following Thursday. For this week, orders are due Monday, February 29 and deliveries will be made Thursday, March 3. You may pick up your box in the SPSG faculty room; if you do not know where this is, please ask the front desk.
    • Director of Human Resources Shannon Duckett will email parents as orders are delivered, for same-day pick up. 
       
  • Book Club on Teen-Girl Topics
    Parents who are interested in joining a February-April book club on teen-girl topics, should contact Upper School Counselor Laurie May today, Friday, February 26. The club will run depending on expressed interest. 
  • Monday, February 29, 7:00-8:30 p.m. in The Ward Center: Distracted Driving & Legal Consequences
    Presented by representatives from the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and trauma survivor Kyle Gimbel, SP ’05. Content is geared toward Upper School students and their parents, though parents of Middle School students may attend. Please RSVP to Upper School Counselor Laurie May by today, Friday, February 26. It is highly encouraged that 10th grade students and their families attend.
     
  • Wednesday, March 9, in The Ward Center from 7:00-8:30 p.m.: Intimate Relationship Violence & Healthy Relationships Presented by the One Love Foundation
    Upper and Middle School parents are invited to attend. Please RSVP to Upper School Counselor Laurie May.

  • International Block Party: Save the Date

  • Spring & Summer Driver’s Education
    Our driver's education classes for spring and summer sessions have been posted. The program includes 10 classroom lessons and 6 hours of drive time to be set up individually by each student. This program is open to all students, as well as students outside of the St. Paul’s Schools. Students must be 15 years old at the time of the class. Online registration is required. 
     
  • Free Webinars for Parents
    The Center for Spiritual and Ethical Education will begin parent webinars this month at no charge to parents. The webinars may be watched live, or a recording of them may be streamed at any time after. Topics will include How to Talk to Your Children about Sex presented by Debbie Roffman, and Parenting in the Digital Age presented by Jenni Voorhees.

Purchase Your Into the Woods Tickets!
Friday, February 26-Sunday, February 28: Joint Middle School Performance of Into the Woods
 
James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, relevant, and rare modern classic. Winner of three Tony Awards, including Best Score of a Musical and Best Book of a Musical, the story follows classic fairy-tale characters and the responsibility they all must learn that comes with getting what you want. Into The Woods is a musically sophisticated show that truly showcases the acting and vocal talents of the students of The St. Paul’s Schools. Ages: 8+

  • Spring Shorts
    The production staff of Spring Shorts, our collection of student-written, one-act performances, is looking for actors, directors and assistant directors to join this extra-curricular theatrical effort. Please contact faculty advisor Ann Turiano for additional information: aturiano@spsfg.org. Performance dates are May 6 and 7.
     
  • Music Lessons Available
    Our Applied Music Lessons at The Ward Center are open to Middle, Lower, and Upper School arts students, as well as the community, through the end of the school year. Students have the opportunity to study piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, woodwinds, brass, drums, percussion, guitar (electric and acoustic), and electric bass, among other instruments. They will also perform in a spring recital. While lessons have commenced for the term, openings are available at prorated rates.     ATHLETICS

    • Show your Gator Pride
      The online Spirit Store is open to all SPSG students and parents through Wednesday, March 2. Purchase spirit-based Under Armour apparel at reduced rates. All orders will ship directly to the school and may be picked up in the athletic department. Orders typically arrive two weeks after the closing date. Only spring sports gear is available for purchase at this time. The Spirit Store will open again during the fall and winter seasons.
    • Fall Sport Start Date
      If your daughter is interested in playing a fall sport, please be mindful of the August 15 start date when making summer plans. Upper School students are expected to be at the first practice to participate on a team this fall.
