About the Crusader Council
Thank you for your interest in giving back to St. Paul's through service on the Alumni Association's Crusader Council. As the primary conduits between St. Paul's alumni and the School, Crusader Councilmen are the lifeblood of the St. Paul's Alumni Association. Councilmen have the vital responsibility of keeping each alumnus in touch with St. Paul's and of working to ensure maximum alumni participation in each School and alumni activity.
It is the Alumni Association's goal to have at least two Councilmen per class. The Alumni Office partners with each Councilman to provide the resources necessary to facilitate easy communication between each Councilman and his class.
The responsibilities of Councilmen are divided into three main categories, communication, class organization, and Annual Fund participation.

The responsibilities of Councilmen are divided into three main categories, communication, class organization, and Annual Fund participation.
Communication
Your primary responsibility as a Councilman is to serve as the liaison between the St. Paul's Alumni Office and your class. Communication with your classmates, via email, phone, or mail, is essential to the vitality of the Alumni Association.
Email offers the simplest way to communicate effectively with your class and provides a virtually effortless way to solicit pledges and gifts to the Annual Fund. Many classes have had success with periodic e-newsletters that include updates on St. Paul's scholastic, artistic, athletic and alumni-related events as well as class-specific information.
Conversely, if you learn about any developments from your classmates (i.e. changes of address, career changes, or engagements, marriages and births, etc.), the Alumni Office asks that you pass along the information. We love to hear what our alumni are doing!
Class Organization
Every five years, Councilmen are asked to work with the Alumni Office to organize a reunion committee to plan and coordinate a class reunion and a special reunion class gift. In addition, Councilmen are asked to encourage classmates to participate in local and regional events and to assist St. Paul's in locating lost alumni.
The Alumni Office will support you in any way possible to help you to keep in touch with your classmates and to keep them in touch with St. Paul's.
Annual Fund Participation
We respectfully ask all Councilmen to contribute to the Annual Fund each year. Your example is important, so please make your donation early in the fiscal year. In addition, periodically Councilmen are asked to solicit gifts from their classmates on behalf of the Annual Fund.
Simply put, St. Paul's needs the financial support of its alumni if it is to continue offering a world-class education to its students. Alumni participation percentage is a key indicator of the health of a school and foundations and corporations often look at participation percentage when considering a gift to St. Paul's. It is the Alumni Association's hope that at least 50% of each class will make a gift to the Annual Fund each year.
Phonathons, held throught the year in Brooklandwood, are the traditional way to ask classmates to support St. Paul's. They are fun and time-tested way to keep alumni abreast of the latest news.
If you've already established an open line of communication with your class via email, you can also use email messages to ask for Annual Fund gifts. Periodic emails offer a convenient way to solicit funds by encouraging your classmates to donate online.
