Good afternoon, my name is Dimitri Hajimihalis and I am currently a senior here at St. Paul’s. Last week, when I was asked to address this crowd I was, to be frank, slightly panicked. I wasn’t entirely certain as to what I should speak about or what you would be interested in hearing. In retrospect, having written this speech the content now seems quite clear, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you one of the most poignant experiences I have had while attending St. Paul’s, something that I believe is truly unique to this school. That is, the amazing community and bonds of friendship which I have formed over the past seven years. Booker T. Washington once said, “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.” St. Paul’s has instilled a sense of stability into my life; and without it my successes would have been limited.
Over my 13 years at St. Paul’s, I have had my share of tumults. I could stand in front of you today and go into detail about technical aspects of life at St. Paul’s, but I believe that the admissions office has taken control of that job.
