2007-2008
General Admissions Policies and Procedures
Lower School (Kindergarten – Grade Four)
The Lower School Admissions Committee is seeking girls and boys with well-developed verbal and listening skills who demonstrate academic promise and motivation to learn. A child applying to kindergarten should be five years old by September 1, 2008.
Candidates for first grade should be six years old by September 1, 2008.
Middle and Upper Schools (Grades Five-Twelve)
The Middle and Upper School Admissions Committees are actively seeking diverse, talented, highly motivated male students who can succeed in a challenging college-preparatory program and, at the same time, contribute to the life of the School.
Selection
Lower School
After careful consideration of all available information, the Lower School Admissions Committee selects those candidates who appear best able to succeed academically and, at the same time, contribute to the positive atmosphere at St. Paul's.
Middle and Upper Schools
Admissions testing and the interview play critical roles in the application process, but the Admissions Committees consider past educational performance, school recommendations, personal characteristics, and special talents or circumstances which warrant the admission of students who are likely to contribute to the vitality of the St. Paul's community.
Notification
Admissions decisions will be mailed March 1, 2008. Applicants have until April 1 to respond to an offer of admission.
Placement
Class placement is determined by academic achievement and the maturity level of each student. Previous educational performance and current test results are key elements in this determination. The overall goal of the placement process is to maximize both potential and success while building self-esteem.
